Everto Signum are a very young Portuguese three-piece; young because they were formed in 2012, and young, because the members are in between 22 and 25 years of age. In 2012, they independently released a first album (back then Everto Signum were a quartet, with another line-up), which was called Enneachotomy, and now the band returns with a four-track EP, which includes a Lux Ferre-cover. The material was recorded by original members Æminus (strings) and Nekruss (vocals; you might know him from his solo-outfit Nekromorphine too; currently he lives in Austria), and new drummer Cavaleiro in August and September 2013. The result was mixed and mastered at the famous Austrian Sound Temple Studio with Stefan Traunmüller (Alastor, Wallachia etc.).
Since this band is highly inspired by Mother Nature, they decided to label their Music as ‘Elemental Black Metal’, referring to the elements of Nature (but you got that, of course…).
Synergy opens with Cold Inception, which is a great introduction for sure. And I do not know if it is a coincidence or not, but the influence from Austria is so overwhelmingly present. Summoning, Dargaard, Grabesmond etc., this piece just breathes the bombastic and gothic majesty courtesy of the bands I just mentioned. This introduction smoothly transmorphs into Stirred Ambiance, bringing extremely grotesque, overpowering, massive, melodic, obscure, atmospheric, rhythmic and majestic Black Metal of a superb, excuse me, of a superior quality. It starts creepily slow, but generates into fast-paced proportions, without denying the massive orchestrations and highly melodious technics. Elemental Synergy is comparable, but this song is much more energetic, oppressive, and straight-forward. And it is truly remarkable how such a young crew is able to write and perform such adult stuff! Remarkable too is the timeless approach. It isn’t modern nor old styled, and at the same time it is both of them. Besides, Stirred Ambiance sounds pretty groovy and catchy, yet it withholds its initial hot pepper in the arse-attitude. Pretty much the very same goes for Atrae Materiae Monumentum, though this final piece on Synergy is less fast than its predecessor – which does not mean less intense or powerful. And what’s interesting is that this really sounds as if it were a track created by Everto Signum themselves, despite being a Lux Ferre-cover. It does not mock the initial strength of the original track, but this one of those few moments that I can enjoy a cover track with deep respect.
If this is the evolution this band will undergo, then I do look impatiently forward to hear their upcoming second full length (or another EP, for my part…; that will do too…)!
Everto Signum has taken black metal as an advantage by throwing together elements enhancing this genre to create something they can only call elemental black metal. That of which is their EP "Synergy", filled with aggression, passion, and flare. While of course the black metal aspect is put into effect, the vocals and instrumentals work like any other black metal outfit in existence, whether it'd be Behemoth to Belphegor, Mayhem, or even Immortal, while those guys are higher ranked, these guys come close enough on the border front at least. Everything works in their advantage, they have the skills and energy that's used within the genre, that it's contagious at times, how it all collides together. Everto Signum knows what they are doing and it shows within this genre created here, building up their energy and mind set is the skills needed to continue the tradition that will be elemental in more ways than one.
Wandering through the very few active metal discussion forums left, I stumbled across Everto Signum from Portugal. The band calls its music ‘Elemental Black Metal’, and they recently released their new EP titled “Synergy”. The band plays the traditional black metal music, interwoven with melodic and ambient atmospheric sounds.
The 4 track EP begins with a dark atmospheric instrumental “Cold Inception”, building up spreading the darkness as it grows. “Stirred Ambiance” begins with a blackened doom riff structure, before the brutal assault kicks in. The track also has a nice industrial black metal vibe running somewhere at the back, this great inter-mix of the blackened doom, atmospheric and industrial metal works to the bands advantage, enhancing the overall sound and resulting in something very original.
The title track “Elemental Synergy”, is one of the most raw and powerful song on the record. The track features some of the best drum-work on the album. The lead guitar melodies are just amazing, and sync well with the faster traditional black metal riffs. The final track is a cover of Lux Ferre’s “Atrae Materiae Monumentum”, while the original was more somber and depressive, this is much more heavy and aggressive.
The production is not extremely top notch, but not bedroom quality either, the sound works well for the band, with a good balance between the drum beats, lead guitar melodies and the vocals. The bass does get suppressed at points, but comes out in great way on the final cover.
The band has a lot of talent, and the perfect blending of atmospheric and industrial sounds in their music showcases that perfectly. The EP is a good place to get to know the band. I will be on a lookout, for a full length from these guys in the future.
Ep que sirve de puente entre su anterior álbum editado en 2012 y el próximo en el cuál están trabajando, Everto Signum se carácteriza por ofrecer un black metal de un trasfondo clásico y tradicional pero orientado hacia la naturaleza, en la forma de la inclusión de algunos sonidos ambientales. El EP "Synergy" se caracteriza por una clara evolución en su sonido hacia elementos más progresivos y en los cuatro temas que lo integra así queda plasmado. Abren con una intro muy ambiental, de atmósfera cargada, a partir de aquí vienen dos temas propios en donde como comentaba anteriormente se ofrece un black de contrastes entre lo tradicional y elementos progresivos, en donde se puede disfrutar de una orientación algo experimental. Cierran con una versión del tema "Atrae Materiae Monumentum" de Lux Ferre. El sonido arrancado es correcto, la producción no es del todo clara pero en líneas generales contribuye a que el resultado final sea una mezcla interesante entre black, doom y progresivo.
Everto Signum ist eine Black Metal-Band aus Portugal, die seit 2010 aktiv ist. Alle drei Mitglieder spielen auch zusammen bei der Funeral Doom-Band Carma, die aktuell ihr selbst betiteltes Debüt rausgebracht haben. Nach Funeral Doom, aber auch nach Ambient, klingt der erste Song, der ein Instrumental ist. Danach gibt es drei Stücke – wie sie es nennen – elementaren Black Metals, soll heißen, man gibt sich in den Texten naturverbunden. Dennoch gibt es hier keinen Viking Metal oder Folkeinflüsse, sondern lediglich schleppenden Black Metal, der kalt und düster klingt. Ein bisschen erinnern sie mich an die Norweger Thorns, wenn sie auch nicht so technisch und viel eingängiger sind. Doch bei schleppendem Tempo bleibt es nicht, sondern man ballert auch mal munter drauflos wie Darkthrone in den Neunzigern. Die Produktion ist zwar nicht wirklich fett, aber für diese Art Musik schon recht sauber und druckvoll. Aber es passt alles gut zusammen. Einige Riffs sind auch mal etwas melodischer, sondern es artet nie in Kitsch aus, sondern bleibt immer ehrlich und bodenständig und vor allem heftig genug, um immer noch als True Black Metal bei Underground-Fanatikern durchzugehen. Geiles Dingen! Das Debüt, das vor knapp drei Jahren rauskam, muss ich mir auch unbedingt mal anhören!

More black metal, we can't get enough of it today. This time we're in Portugal, listening to Everto Signum. The e.p. I'm reviewing is actually more of a single. There's a dark ambient related intro ('Cold Inception'), two self-written tracks and a cover from Lux Ferre, another Portuguese black metal band ('Atrae Materiae Monumentum'). However, that doesn't mean that it's not an interesting single.
After the intro, the band kicks off with 'Stirred Ambiance', a traditional black metal song in the vein of bands like Immortal, Satyricon and several others in the genre. 'Elemental Synergy' follows in a similar fashion. Yet, what strikes me most, is the mature, no-nonsense approach towards their music. Although this is only the second effort by this band, it feels like they have been roaming the blackened underground for decades.
So, should you get your hands on this e.p.? Well, why not. It's a decent single, showing a skilled and hard working band. I'm curious about a full-length that should be coming in the near future. Giving time, effort and a solid production it could become a fantastic album, perhaps even one of the highlights in that year's releases. But for now, let's enjoy this single for a while...

Everto Signum are an international band with members from Austria and Portugal that plays a musical style that they refer to as 'elemental black metal' and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Synergy" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records, Dark East Productions, NitroAtmosfericum Records and Metal Throne Productions.
Ambient style synths start off the ep bringing in a very epic and atmospheric feeling and after a couple of minutes melodic guitar leads make their presence known on the recording and after the intro the music starts going for more of a heavier blck metla direction while also retaining the atmospheric elements.
Vocals are mostly grim screams and the music also brings in a more modern style of black metal and when the music speeds up it starts evoking more of a raw style that also utilizes a great amount of blast beats while the riffs also mic in a great amount of melody and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound and they close the ep with a cover of Lux Ferre's "Atrae Materiae Momuntum".
Everto Signum plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and melodic while also mixing in a raw guitar sound, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover natural elements, landscapes, forces, and phenomena". 8 out of 10.
In my opinion Everto Signum are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Stirred Ambiance" and "Atrae Materiae Momuntum.

Опять Satanath Records произвел настоящий фурор, издав мощнейшую блаковую португальско-австрийскую(?) группу. К этому мы еще вернемся, но уже сейчас заметим, что это был совместный релиз с Dark East Productions (Россия), NitroAtmosfericum Records (Россия) и Metal Throne Productions (Греция). Официальным дистрибьютором заявлена белорусская контора GrimmDistribution. И весь этот ажиотаж основан на явном факте: EVERTO SIGNUM производит сложносочиненный контент, который придется по нраву многим экстремальщикам, и не только блакерам. Дело в том, что мне изначально показалось, что группа реализует «собственный блак» с многими влияниями, например чуть ли не дэта, но уж точно навороченных и взвинченных неудержимой фантазией.
Порылся немного на архивах, что бы выяснить, откуда растут австрийские корни. Ничего не нашел, заметил только одного бывшего участника родом из Канады. Да собственно, португальцы и сами могут вжечь так, что никому мало не покажется. Чему, собственно, доказательством и является сей диск.
Музыканты называют свой стиль «Elemental Black Metal», что связано с обращением к тематике природы, ее пейзажей и прочего. И все. Потому что ничего «элементарного», как кажется, в переводе на русский, в их музыке нет. И наверное, не было никогда. Наоборот, композер в своей творческой работе культивирует обращение к сложным структурам в каждой компо. В связи с чем надо заметить, что реал диск для прослушивания этого произведения рекомендуется. Однозначно. Мало того, что композер насочинял комплексного музла, так ребята нашли деньги на хорошую студию, где талантливо и мастеровито спаяли все лайеры, слои, которые теперь образуют единое ужасающее целое.
Музыканты начали с мрачной мистериозной компо, которая нашла бы свое законное место у атмосферных амбиенталистов или форестовых мастеров — лесорубов-блекметаллистов. Однако уже здесь с глубокого дна поднимаются клавишные пассажи, сурово обрамляющие рамочку для парка юрского периода, воспоследовавшего сразу за номером первым. И тут, впрочем, без предупреждения не обошлось: мидтемпово прокачав реальность, ритм-секция ринулась во все тяжкие, грубые и злобные )).
Вот тут то и началось мизантропическое остервенение, которое окровавленным боком касается дэта, ибо это очень интенсивно и богато на низкочастотную составляющую. Целая стена озоноразрушающего звука, каждый кирпич здесь откован в кузницах люциферианской империи. При том этот каждый блок изготовлен самым хитрым способом, так что не преминешь, при хорошем качестве воспроизведения, залюбоваться им.
Потому что композер задавал струнникам апокалипсиса особые задачи — тотальное рубилово, помноженное на чувство локтя и воистину шедевральное ощущение определенной БЛАКОВОЙ задачи в каждой компо. Из-за того они приобрели массивность, объем и инфернальное пламенеющее дыхание. Интеллектуальный отбойный молот meet колдовской завет.
Немало преуспел и вокалист этой троицы. Обладая всеми данными для озвучивания рядового блакового трака, он сделал шаг в небеса, производя поистине вдохновленное коловоротное шаманское действо, может быть и эзотерического характера. Уж больно «искрит» эта пластинка на энергетическом уровне.
EVERTO SIGNUM from Portugal are active since 2010 and after a full-length, released in strictly limited cassette format, the band releases their new EP called "Synergy" via Satanath Records, who are known for well-chosen Black Metal releases. The instrumental intro 'Cold Inception' takes up the listener with careful keyboards and carefully used guitars and sountrack-esque drumming and prepares for what is to expect from the second track 'Stirred Ambiance'. It starts with slow and melodic, but cold and bloodfreezing Black Metal in vein of early DIMMU BORGIR or SATYRICON before the song gets a bit faster but still melodic with well-fitting and varying drumming and grim vocals. The third track, 'Elemental Synergy', is a bit faster with another fine lead melody but a raw rhythm guitar fundament and works out pretty fine. The lLast track, 'Atrae Materiae Monumentum', is a well-done cover of LUX FERRE and fits perfect to their own style. Again very dark riffing with the grim vocals of Nekruss, pounding double-bass and a fine lead melody. The overall production is kept unpolished and a bit raw but fits well to their sound and spreads out a pretty cold atmosphere. Fans of melodic and freezing Black Metal, no matter if you are into stuff from Norway or Sweden, should give this horde a listen as they are very talented and delivered a promising EP.

Encore une production proposée par Satanath Records arrivant dans nos pages avec ce Ep d’ Everto Signum sorti en 2014, et il s’agit du fruit d’une collaboration musicale Portugal-Autriche.
Quatre titres de black atmosphérique sont proposés et « Cold Inception » fait guise d’intro sur une ambiance très planante entièrement au clavier qui pourra rappeler Mythological Cold Towers avec ce côté épique et mélancolique.
« Stirred Ambiance » démarre ensuite sur un black metal mid tempo variant également sur certains passages plus doom. Rythmique lancinante, voix sombre et mélodies dissonantes, l’atmosphère dans son ensemble s’avère très obscure. Le break qui suit est plus brut et la batterie impose son jeu plus énergique. Les claviers bien présents contribuent à cet esprit plus atmosphérique. On se remémorera ici quelques groupes dark metal des 90’s comme Aeternus, Bloodthorn, ou encore les hongrois de Sear Bliss.
« Elemental Synergy » continue l’offrande musicale à base de riffs très accrocheurs et cette mélodie diaboliquement entraînante. Le style évolue par rapport au précédent titre dans la mesure où le côté atmosphérique se fait moins présent, en revanche le côté épique, lui, est bien focalisé. Un excellent break sur le final reprend les guitares lourdes, la double pédale bien carrée et impose sérieusement un côté guerrier.
Pour terminer, une reprise de Lux Ferre : « Atrae Materia Monumentum ». La face atmosphérique moins en avant et l’épique plus appuyé, le batteur rythme toujours lourdement le mouvement à adopter. On trouve un bon break intriguant en milieu de parcours et l’ambiance oppresse à foison. Le black metal qui nous est délivré ici plaira également aux adorateurs des norvégiens de Gehenna (old).
Cette contribution internationale se fait bien sympathique donc de la part d’ Everto Signum qui base le thème de son black metal sur la nature, et la curiosité de jeter une oreille sur la suite se fait sentir.

Taková menší vzpomínka na rok 2014, kdy se z portugalské sluje vyvalila trojice EVORTO SIGNUM, která prostřednictvím EP „Synergy“ navázala na debutovou desku „Enneachotomy“ (2012). Přiznávám se, že prvotní zásek jsem neměl možnost slyšet, avšak čtveřice aktuálních skladeb je postavena na melodickém (místo hodně atmosferickém) black metalu s minimálními prvky doomu a ambinetu. Ostatně hned úvodní track „Cold Inception“ je ryze ambientní záležitostí a ve své podstatě se jedná o takové vstupní intro, byť poněkud prodloužené.
Prvním významným songem je tedy následující „Stirred Ambiance“, který v sobě mísí starý duch nahrávek SATYRICON a MOONSPELL, přičemž významnou úlohu rozhodně drží seversky znějící zvuk kytar. Tento trend posléze pokračuje i v následující „Elemental Synergy“, kde mě nejvíce upoutal ambientní úvod, jenž se posléze převtělil do melodické formy black metalu.Everto Signum Portugalsko je sice krajinou pláží a teplého počasí, avšak hudební menu této skutečnosti neodpovídá ani v nejmenším.
Posledním vzorkem „malého nosiče“ je cover portugalské blackmetalové skupiny LUX FERRE, jejíž odkaz mi není úplně znám, nicméně „Atrae Materiae Monumentum“ nikterak nevybočuje z nastoleného trendu. I na tomto místě má posluchač co dělat s melodickým a zároveň i hodně syrovým black metalem, kterému rozhodně nechybí odpovídající kvalita. Výjimečné tažení však v případě EVORTO SIGNUM spíše neočekávejte, neboť hudba Portugalců není kdovíjak osobitá a snadno si ji lze splést s desítkami dalších snaživců. Co je tady však uděláno, to je uděláno dobře. Nahrávka má ucházející zvuk a v mnohém se dokáže popasovat i s těmi nadprůměrnějšími a známějšími tituly. Teď už jen čekat, co přinesou EVORTO SIGNUM s další řadovou nahrávkou. Nějaký dlouhohrající zásek by se už nejspíš hodil…

Komoly hangvételű intróval sejtet jót az Everto Signum 2014-es EP-je, pedig a portugál black metal csapat meglehetősen átlagos, mondhatni kissé érdektelen 2012-es bemutatkozó albuma után nem feltétlenül várná az ember. Az Enneachotomy című debütalbumot, természetesen, utólag hallgattam meg, hogy meg tudjam ítélni, miben lett több vagy kevesebb az új anyag. A zenekar a tradicionális black metal gyökerekből igyekszik táplálkozni, gyors és középtempós témák vegyesen sorakoznak a debütáló anyagon. Biztos vagyok benne, hogy szeretik a Dissectiont, az Immortalt, a Satyricont és a többieket, de a nagyokhoz mérten, jóval szerényebb zenei tartalommal és kevésbé erőteljes atmoszférával rendelkeznek.
A Synergy már nagyobb fejlődést és érettebb hozzáállást mutat, a dalok messze jobbak a kislemezen, mint a két évvel korábbi előd szerzeményei, de világot nem akarnak megváltani továbbra sem. A legkellemesebb és a legtöbb izgalmat felvillantó track a korongon az Elemental Synergy, amelyben a dalírói készség valamelyest jobban kidomborodik. Értékelendő, hogy nem akarják végigsikálni a játékidőt, hanem többnyire középtempóban fejezik ki magukat, amely idő alatt több tempóváltást is megejt a fiatal csapat. Az említett dal egyáltalán nem mondható egysíkúnak, a törekvés igenis tetten érhető, még ha ismerősnek is tűnnek az alkalmazott panelek. A nyitó tétel lassan indul, és a hangulatos, jellegzetesen black metalos gitárharmóniák sem rosszak, csak éppen semmit nem tesznek hozzá az eddig hallottakhoz. Az azonban kitűnik, hogy komolyan veszik a dolgot, ami a minimum elvárás, amikor az ember ilyen darázsfészekbe nyúl, mint az északi black metal.
Ami szintén pozitív, az az, hogy a dalokat külön-külön is fel lehet ismerni. A kislemezt záró darab témái sem a zajongásról szólnak, hanem meghatározó melódiákról, tehát az, hogy dalokban gondolkodnak szimpatikus jellemvonása a Synergynek. Hogy ez mennyire elég, nem tudnám megmondani. A gondom első sorban az, hogy az Everto Signum továbbra sem veheti fel a versenyt az „A” ligába való lemezekkel.
Még kicsit sebezhetőnek, gyenge testalkatúnak látom az egyébként igyekezetből jeles zenekart, de ez nem feltétlenül lesz így a jövőben is. Amíg fejlődést tapasztalok, addig jó okom van azt hinni, hogy a méregfogát még csak eztán fogja kimutatni a csapat. Erre még bőven van idő. Remélhetőleg legközelebb már az imidzs sem fogja súrolni a banalitás határait.

становления Moonspell, выпустивших недавно успешный альбом «1755», но о группе менее известной. На счету у португальцев Everto Signum всего две студийных работы, и сабж – ЕР из 4 треков – вторая из них. Дебют 2012 г. я не слышал, потому о группе буду судить как есть, т.е. по «Synergy». Конечно, 4 треков, один из которых вообще инструментальная интродукция, недостаточно, чтобы составить полноценное впечатление, однако что-то понять все равно можно. И первое, что явно уже даже на интро «Cold Inception», так то, что Everto Signum не из тех, кто экспериментирует или ищет что-то новое, по крайней мере в тех масштабах, способных заметно повлиять на творчество. Группа играет довольно хрестоматийный блэк-металл, явно более позднего периода становления стиля, когда музыкантам всего мира стало понятно, что не только в скорости дело. Сабж, конечно, не блещет гениальностью, но и отвратительным его назвать нельзя, скорее «посредственно хорошим». Положительные эмоции при прослушивании испытать можно – в конце концов, звучит группа уверенно, явно стремится к профессионализму и видит грамотный баланс между откровенной сырым и отполированным звучанием. Ну разве это не залог приятного времяпрепровождения? Сама же музыка злобная, местами неторопливая, местами качевая, местами в меру скоростная, и относительно интересная, если брать во внимание тексты, лишенные сатанизма. Какого-либо местного колорита, как это было на «Wolfheart» тех же Moonspell, вы не услышите – Everto Signum практически не заигрывают с фолк-музыкой, хотя в песнях немало неплохих мелодий. Единственное, что можно сказать наверняка, и это хоть как-то выделяет сабж из сотен ему подобных, так то, что при прослушивании у меня ни разу не возникла мысль, что эта группа из Скандинавии, откуда блэк-металл, каким мы его знаем сейчас, родом. Нет в этой музыке практически ничего северного, что не означает полного провала – в мире немало блэк-металл групп, которые также не имеют никакого отношения к европейскому северу, что никак не мешает им делать отличную музыку. Данный релиз поклонники стиля в целом должны оценить, тем более, что он довольно позитивно влияет на репутацию группы, от которой, кстати, давненько ничего не было слышно. Учитывая, что «Synergy» вышел еще в 2014 г. Everto Signum стоит задуматься о продолжении
